The postpartum doula’s primary client is the birthing person, but provides care for the entire family. A postpartum doula is not a medical professional that can give medical advice or treatment.

A midwife is a licensed professional who can provide well-woman care, family planning care, prenatal care, postpartum care, and primarily is focused on delivery of the newborn.

A sliding scale is a tool used to provide a service at varying price points to serve the financial circumstances of the purchaser. The goal of the sliding scale is to make doula services accessible to people who would otherwise be priced out of receiving the support they deserve. The sliding scale operates on a system of trust and honesty to address systematic inequalities.

The earlier the better! At minimum you should begin the process at the start of your third trimester to allow time for your free consultation, review of contract, selection of schedule, and prenatal visit.
