Why Do I Need a postpartum doula?

Imagine yourself one week postpartum. You have just completed the 9 month marathon of pregnancy, and finished that with the steep uphill sprint that is birth, and now you are at home with your new bundle of joy. There is an endless amount of gratitude and bliss, but also exhaustion, and soreness, and arguments over who was supposed to pick up more diapers. The first 40 days are extremely challenging both physically and mentally. But as a postpartum doula, I am here to help your family navigate this time with nourishment, care, and maybe even a little bit of sleep!

Lack of sleep is often one of the things new parents fear most. It can feel like you will never sleep again in those early weeks. As your postpartum doula I can support you by giving you a 12 hour break. Overnight visits start with a nutritious dinner cooked by your doula, then time for you and your partner to relax and unwind while the doula handles bedtime for the newborn. While you sleep uninterrupted your doula will help tidy the home, meal prep for you, and care for your newborn. Wake up feeling refreshed and reenergized by your folded pile of laundry and stocked fridge.
